Dear Omega. Could you please put the 8500calibre into the seamaster 300m? I wouldnt care if it cost 4000$ more. I would run to my next OMEGA boutique and buy it! What kept me from buying one is that ETA-2500 based. I hope you could upgrade that at baselworld 2013. It would make me and many others realy happy 😉 Thanks

    what’s wrong with the ETA-2500?

  4. mtflight says:

There are many movement designs but the 2892 (coax 2500 base) has a simple design that uses a wheel with a tooth that flips the date. I don’t think it can be damaged in this design. Other movements may interfere as the wheels are turning during that time and could get jammed or damaged. It could be a cautious warning.

My jeweler that sold me this timepiece told me to adjust the date only when the hour and minute hand are at the bottom pointing at the 6pm/am, otherwise place the hands there before adjusting the date. This prevents the gears to grind and get damaged over time.

Should also remind the user to make any adjustment of any crown when the watch is totally dry.

    Omega’s still the best classic movement =>>> 2500 Co-Ax (ETA 2892 base)

Unreal! I’ve been setting the date on my Omega 300m Chronograph by winding the time round and round until it’s the Wright date……. What a handicap I am….. Only had it 5 years!! At least now I know!! Thanks!!

  13. Simon Allen says:

I couldn’t figure out how to get the diver’s extension back in – easy when you know how! Thanks!

  14. hermest99 says:

Just out of curiousity, why does it matter if I were to set the date between 8pm and 2am? What will it do?

Taigashen interesting. This is a modified ETA and keeps good time like that. The only omega I owned was the speedmaster moon watch and I sold it because the accuracy was just horrible.

  17. Taigashen says:

Just because it’s ETA doesn’t mean it’s horrible, there’s a reason why they are used so often. Reliable and some are even better than in house movements. I can’t comment on the moon watch as I’ve never owned one.

  18. joz119 says:

ripperx444 I find the bezel not the easiest to turn as it’s hard to grip compared to my Aquaracer or F1 Tag’s

  19. ripperx444 says:

Taigashen yea I know. But an ETA with an accuracy like this is very good. I am also comparing this watch mentally to my submariner C. It’s not totally fair but they share similar characteristics

  20. batman Arkham says:

what do you mean by that

  21. batman Arkham says:

So is it necessary to wind the crown at every 48 hours. Can the watch keep on running via excessive wrist / hand movement?

Craps tables at Aria here I come. Sure to get the attention of a few hot skanks on the stroll.

  24. Leonardo Camil says:

    Thanks!

  25. Bear Grylls says:

HELL yes. If you wear it for a few hours every day it will affectively never need winding. It can start to run very slightly slow, then 20 winds may do it good until many more weeks go by 🙂

  26. Bear Grylls says:

Come on Batman, plug the brain in.

  27. John O'brien says:

  36. Nathan Kilgore says:

Watch is still rated at 5 atm with the crown open. So you don’t need to worry like that.

  37. Kevvy Kim says:

not that ETA-2500 is wrong, but the the 8500 calibre has Co-Axial movement (I think) and it so durable that you can do just about anything and the watch will endure the shocks and the bumps
